Fajr Film Festival honors Iranian producer Gholamreza Mousavi

Opening ceremony of the 35th Fajr International Film Festival pays tribute to Iranian producer Gholamreza Mousavi.

The 35th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has paid tribute to prominent Iranian producer Seyyed-Gholamreza Mousavi.

The event honored the 65-year-old producer during the opening ceremony held in Tehran on Saturday, January 28.

Born in 1951, Mousavi studied economics and began film production in 1981.

He has produced a whole range of movies, including ‘Sun Residents’, ‘The Tanker Wars’, ‘Red’, ‘Rokhsareh’, ‘Tick’, ‘Pink’, ‘Ice Flower’, ‘Hardships of the Maiden’, ‘Parkway’, ‘The Last Heist’, ‘I'm a Mother’, ‘There Will be Blood on Wednesday’, and ‘Hatred’.

The 13th and 17th editions of the FIFF nominated movies produced by Mousavi for the best film’s Crystal Simorgh.

Fajr Festivals are annually held in Iran during the Fajr Decade (literally meaning ten days of dawn) which marks the anniversary of the ten days from the return of Imam Khomeini, founder of the Islamic Republic, to Iran (February 1) until the victory day of the Islamic Revolution (February 11) in 1979.

Established in 1982, Fajr Film Festival is an event that celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of the Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.
